OBD Cables, Communication Interfaces, Software Installation Sets

Different BMW, MINI, and Rolls-Royce models use different communication protocols depending on their production year. This determines the type of diagnostic hardware and cable required:

Pre-2007 (E-Series):
Use K-Line / D-CAN protocols.
- Recommended Cable: K+DCAN USB Cable

2007–2016 (E/F-Series transition):
Mostly D-CAN, some early ENET for F-series.
- Recommended Cables: K+DCAN or ENET (Ethernet to OBD)

2016+ (F/G/I-Series and newer):
Use Ethernet (ENET) and DoIP (Diagnostics over IP).
- Recommended Interface: ENET Cable or ICOM Next for full compatibility

Rolls-Royce (BMW-based platforms):
Follows same protocol structure as BMW F/G-Series of the same era.
